  • Mix 50 grams of powder with 50 grams of water per jar

Nutritional balance

Metazoa FitRight Fruit Fly Medium contains nutrients. Some of these are used by the fruit flies, while others naturally reach the animals that eat the fruit flies.
The fruit flies can also be sprinkled with Metavit, a high-quality vitamin and mineral powder that sticks well to them.
This maximizes the nutritional value of the fruit flies.
FitRight Fruit Fly Medium contains calcium, which is important for normal muscle function. Cultured fruit flies that you raise pass on the calcium content to the animal that eats them.

You can find the full composition of this product at the bottom of the page.

The right nutrition has an important effect on the well-being of animals.
When your animal is in nutritional balance, it gets everything it needs.
This promotes a vital self-healing mechanism and thus ensures fewer physical problems.

Feeding advice

To create a fruit fly medium, mix 50 grams of powder with 50 grams of cold water in a jar.
After stirring, the fruit flies can be added to the pot.
They will then reproduce on their own.
The soil must not dry out, or the larvae will die.
If the soil is dark the larvae have nothing to eat.
Newly prepared soil can be added to the pot if there are still larvae living in it.
Place a plug of wood wool on top of the soil as a place for the larvae to pupate and a seat for the fruit flies.
Here are a few more tips for growing fruit flies:
  • The soil should be 3 to 5 inches thick.
  • Do not let the soil dry out. If the soil dries out too quickly it is due to a combination of not enough added water, too high a temperature and too much ventilation.
  • The ideal temperature is 15 to 25°C. The warmer it is, the faster the cultivation. At 25°C, the cycle is 12 to 15 days long.
  • Use 30 large fruit flies or 60 small ones per pot to start the culture.
  • Use the first new fruit flies from a breeding pot as nursery flies. These are the strongest and healthiest fruit flies with the least amount of mites, a parasite that fruit flies often carry.
  • Start a culture at least once a week to continuously feed fruit flies. You may consider doing this every four days, just in case a culture fails.
